Why we built this
Racingline started in a rental-kart paddock. We're a group of friends — engineers by day, endurance karters on weekends — and during long team races our pit wall was basically guesswork: paper notes, shouted lap counts, and a stopwatch someone forgot to press.
The off-the-shelf options all had the same problem. Phone-based lap timers meant buying a separate mount and strapping an expensive phone to a vibrating kart — then watching the screen wash out in the sun while the battery cooked. Professional data loggers cost more than a season of race entries, and they're built for factory teams with a data engineer on payroll. We're not that. Most karters aren't.
So we built our own. The first version was a tangle of dev boards zip-tied to a kart for our own endurance team. The second survived full race weekends and streamed live laps to our pit crew. The third generation — the one you can preorder — is a proper product: one rugged device, its own LTE connection, and software that feels like it was made this decade.
We built it for people like us: obsessed with racing and the tech behind it, even if we're never getting a factory seat.

The phone problem
Not because it might fall — because some part of your brain is protecting it. With a €200 purpose-built device, you stop being careful. That's the whole argument, and anyone who has raced with their own phone strapped to a kart already knows it.

It does — if you rerun the ritual before every single stint. And it does nothing for heat, sunlight or battery, while live data to the pit wall is impossible in airplane mode. The fix for racing with a phone is making it less of a phone.

It does. The difference: a quick-mount built for exactly one shape and one job, a fraction of the mass of a phone in a case in a universal clamp — and if it takes a hit, it's a €200 tool designed around karting's abuse, not the object your whole life signs in through.

Live telemetry
During an endurance race, the driver is busy driving. The people who actually need the data are standing at the pit wall. With LTE on board, every lap, sector, gap and stint timer streams straight from the kart to a live dashboard in the browser — on any laptop, tablet or phone in the paddock.
ML race coach
On supported tracks, the machine-learning coach compares every lap you drive against the fastest lines through each corner. Then it tells you what to actually do about it: brake later here, take an earlier apex there, stop throwing away three tenths at the hairpin.
Coaching launches on supported tracks first. Lap timing & telemetry work at any outdoor track — GPS needs sky, so no indoor circuits.
The hardware
Custom board, sunlight-first display, LTE and GPS antennas inside one rugged box. It goes onto an unmodified rental kart in seconds and comes off at the end of the stint — no tools, nothing left behind. Works on a kart you will never see again.

For the track regulars
The transponder loop at your local track is genuinely accurate — a fixed point, measured to hundredths, every lap. It's also the end of what it tells you. No sectors. No speed trace. No line. No braking points. Nothing to compare with last month except one number.
And the number isn't yours. It lives on a printout, a lobby screen, or an app that forgets you — a different system at every venue, gone when they switch providers. Nobody who has karted for two years can say whether they're actually faster than last season.

FAQ
That's the design brief. The quick-mount goes onto an unmodified kart in seconds and comes off at the end of the stint — no tools, no modification, nothing left behind. Most of us race rentals; the device assumes the kart is borrowed and the data is yours.
Here's the argument to hand the track manager: nothing permanent, no tools, no modification to their kart, and it leaves with you when the stint ends — closer to bringing your own helmet than to touching their equipment. If your venue wants specifics, show them this page or put them in touch with us and we'll answer directly.
No. GPS needs sky, so indoor circuits are out — this is a device for outdoor karting, full stop. If your racing is indoor-only, we'd rather tell you now than after you've paid.
We are targeting the end of Q1 or the beginning of Q2 2027 for the first shipments, in reservation order. Hardware timelines are hard and we would rather under-promise: if anything slips, preorder holders hear it from us first, with the reason.
No SIM to source yourself — LTE is built in, and we are finalizing how connectivity is bundled before launch. Two things are already certain: lap timing and on-device telemetry work fully standalone with no connectivity at all, and Bluetooth offload will never require a subscription.
Nothing is lost. Every session is recorded on the device itself, always. If there is no coverage, your pit crew misses the live feed, but you dump the complete telemetry over Bluetooth afterwards and analyze everything in the same web app.
Yes: the device recognizes nearby tracks and their layout variants, and on unknown circuits it can learn the start/finish line from your driving or let you set it manually. The ML race coach is the one feature that needs a supported track — that list grows continuously, and preorder holders choose which tracks we add first.
You pay nothing today. A preorder is a reservation: it locks the early-bird price and your place in the first production run. When your build slot is ready we ask for payment — and until then you can cancel with a single email.
We did, for years, and the phone cost us more laps than the drivers did: screens locking mid-stint, a call taking over the display, a notification banner parked over the delta at the braking point, thermal shutdown in July, battery flat before the flag. Airplane mode and kiosk tricks fix some of that — at the cost of a ritual before every stint — and they do nothing for heat, sun or battery, while live pit-wall data is impossible in airplane mode. Mostly, though: when the thing on the wheel is a €200 tool built for this, you stop protecting it and just drive.
